SuperValu Launches Revamped Mayfield Store Following €1m Investment

SuperValu has launched its new look at its store in Mayfield, Co. Cork, under new management, as part of a €1 million investment.

Higgins’ SuperValu, now owned by Tom Higgins, currently employs 32 people, with the revamp set to create eight additional jobs.

Features

The new-look SuperValu will offer an extended range of products, as well as expertly led deli and butcher counters.

It also includes an expanded bakery range, a dedicated prepared-meal range, and extended offerings in the new-look off-licence.

The fresh-food hall will bring exclusive ranges to shoppers, from the likes of freshly prepared meals, Italicatessen, the Happy Pear and Donnybrook Fair.

A new health-and-wellness section in store will offer an array of products tailored to cater to the diverse needs of customers.

As well as these new features, the store will now offer locals in the community the option of a delivery service.

Supporting Local Endeavours

Supporting local endeavours is of key importance to owner and manager Higgins, as well as the entire Mayfield team.

Customers will be able to purchase local products from the ever-growing Taste of Local area in the store.

Higgins’ SuperValu is also committed to supporting the community as a whole, and it has already contributed to a number of local charities and teams in the past year.

These include Mayfield Utd Soccer Academy, Mayfield GAA Academy, Mayfield Boxing Club, and Brian Dillon’s GAA Academy.

Through the store upgrades, sustainability has remained a key focus within the retailer’s plans.

Sustainability upgrades include the installation of energy-efficient refrigeration doors and units, and the introduction of LED lighting.

Estimates suggest that these measures have already reduced energy consumption on the premises by 35%.

‘Enhancing Local Communities’

Speaking at the launch, owner Higgins said, “We are delighted to be launching our new-look store after significant investment and significant hard work from the team.

“The new store will offer customers premium produce from a new fresh-food hall to an extended grocery range and quality offering, as well as fantastic local products across the store.

“The reaction to date has been truly overwhelming from our current customers and, indeed, those returning to shop here.

“Their continued support enables us to help support our local community, too.

“The outpouring of good wishes from our community, both for myself and the team, has truly validated all the effort we put into completing the refurbishment so efficiently.

“We believe in enhancing local communities by caring for our environment, so we are particularly proud of the dedicated eco-friendly technologies throughout the new store.
