SuperValu To Stock Favourit Herbs And Spices

Favourit, Ireland’s oldest producers of herbs and spices, has announced that it will be stocked on SuperValu shelves, as barbecue season kicks off.

The brand has over 40 herbs, spices and seasonings available in retail jars made in Favourit’s Irish facility.

Set up in 1915, the company has been importing spices to Belfast and supplying them for over 100 years.

Having supplied to the foodservice sector for years, the company expanded into the retail space in 2023 and was recognised at the 2024 Northern Ireland Food and Drink Association (NIFDA) Awards.

‘Packs A Punch’

Tong-wielding, marinade-making barbecue chefs will be gearing up for a summer of grilling, as the country manager of Favourit, Vince Murray, explained.

“We are delighted that Favourit herbs and spices are now available in selected SuperValu stores,” Murray said.

“That means even more people, from Dublin to Cork, will get the opportunity to enhance their home cooking with our tasty ranges.

“The Favourit selection really packs a punch, so it’s great for barbecue lovers, as they enhance the natural flavours of beef, lamb, fish, chicken – not to mention vegetables and sweet treats.”

‘More Adventurous’

Murray spoke about the successful expansion of the products into the retail sector, saying, “Our range has been accessible to professional cooks for over a century, and in 2023, our award-winning herbs and spices were made available to people at home, too.

“Since then, home cooks all over Ireland have been using our carefully curated herbs and spices to make delicious meals and culinary creations.

“Home cooks have become more adventurous with herbs and spices – gone are the days when salt and pepper were the only seasonings we used in our food.

“Today, people demand choice and quality, and all at a great price, too, which Favourit delivers in spoonfuls.

“We have favourites like basil, cinnamon and oregano, and options inspired by different cuisines from across the globe, such as Cajun seasoning, crushed chillies, and Chinese five-spice.

“These flavours open up a whole new world of taste for people who are passionate about food.”

Favourit’s expansion led to a doubling of its production of herbs and spices.
