160 Londis Retailers and Staff from 45 stores will cycle 43Km from Achill to Westport to raise funds and awareness for Pieta House on May 19. This is part of Londis’ Cycle for Joy campaign. This is a follow-on from Londis’ previous events in aid of Pieta House; 2016’s Climb for Joy and 2017’s Jump for Joy.

Revenue seized 5,800 unstamped cigarettes and over 660 litres of smuggled wine over the course of last week. The cigarettes, originating from Poland, have a retail value of approximately €3,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €2,700 while the wine smuggled from France was worth over €10,000 and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5,600.

Coeliac Awareness Week kicks off nationwide this week, May 14th-20th, organised by the Coeliac Society of Ireland, supported by SuperValu. A number of events will be taking place during Awareness Week, including a series of in-store events at SuperValu stores around Ireland, featuring dietetic talks, advice from the Coeliac Society of Ireland and gluten-free food samplings.

It was confirmed last week that Walmart will buy a controlling stake in Flipkart. Shortly after Walmart entered a massive UK merger with Sainburys through Asda, it announced that it wrapped up the $16 billion acquisition of Indian-based e-commerce company.

Up to 5,000 people descended on the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on both Saturday (12.05.18) and Sunday (13.05.18) for WellFest 2018 in association with KBC. The two-day event is Ireland’s largest health, wellness and fitness festival and saw a host of international and national stars sharing tips and hosting sessions on all things health, nutrition, fitness and wellness related.

Londis was awarded the national An Post Smart Marketing Bronze Award for Advertising 2017 for the Shout Out campaign. This campaign included an in-store and social media competition and 24 of lucky Londis customers featured on our Londis ads on RTÉ alongside Tastes Like Home Season 2.

Spar Directors and Retailers cycled 602km from Malin to Mizen Head over four days in aid of Cystic Fibrosis. While raising awareness for Spar’s Official Charity Partner, the group of retailers raised much-needed funds to support people living with CF in Ireland.
