Applegreen Announces Fuel Price Drop Of 5c A Litre

Applegreen has announced that from today, Friday 14 December, it will drop fuel price by 5c a litre across all its forecourt sites in the Republic of Ireland.

“Our national price drop of 5c per litre on fuelgood fuel will be welcomed by motorists across the Republic of Ireland," said Conor Lucey, head of operations.

"We are committed to our 'low fuel prices always' promise and are delighted we can help our customers hard-earned cash go that bit further at this time of year.”

Robust 2018

The forecourt retailer's saw its group revenue increase by 27% in the first half of 2018, according to its latest trading update, which was published on 21 September this year.

The group’s unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2018 showed that the group brought in €854.9 million - a 30% increase on a constant currency basis.

Welcome Break Take-Over

The Irish-owned company announced the completion of the acquisition of UK forecourt operator Welcome Break on the 2 November earlier this year.

The deal, worth €360 million, was first announced by Applegreen at the beginning of August, which resulted in the Irish operator holding a 50.01% stake in one of the leading motorway service area operators in the UK.

It is now responsible for its strategy and operational matters of the UK group.

The group currently has over 177 service stations, employing over 2,500 people – right across Ireland and also in the UK and America.
