Did You Know... The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has published an audit report on levels of non-compliance with food law by commercial cold stores? It found that 63% didn’t comply with pre-requisite programmes (like basic good hygiene and practices), and food safety management systems. Half were also non-compliant in relation to product identification and tracking, and 38% were non-compliant with legal requirements for labelling.
Did You Know... The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association (ISME) has warned that rising state influenced business costs are holding back the export competitiveness of Irish SMEs? It drew attention to how the negative overall inflation figure for the country is concealing a significant increase in the cost of base of SMEs.

Did You Know... Bolivian President Evo Morales has named Irish-owned CocaBlue as ‘the official drink of the presidential palace’ after his visit to Dublin in October? CocaBlue, produced by Babco Europe, is a 111 proof high altitude coca leaf liqueur, made with de-cocainised leaves and exported to 42 countries around the world. In 2012, Morales – a former coca leaf farmer himself – acknowledged that the commercialisation of coca leaf products could bring significant benefits to the Bolivian economy.

From January 18th, 2016, Magic Magan Raw Chocolate Bars, Martin's Mustards, Seafield's Seaweed Relishes, Clare Jam Co, Gra Nola, Kelly Sausages, Delia Keane's Scones, Posh Mash and Western Herd Brewery will be trialled in SuperValu stores.

Did You Know... A female worker in Lidl’s Mitchelstown store was tied up by two men while they robbed €500 from the outlet? According to the Irish Mirror, she was approached by the men while opening the store around 6 am in the morning of November 14th. The woman was later treated at the scene, and no other workers were reported as injured.
