Confectionary giant Nestlé has announced that it has produced a new SMA Organic Follow-on Milk and SMA Organic Growing Up Milk to offer an organic choice for parents. SMA® Organic Follow-on and Growing Up Milk will be launching in all major retailers in the UK and Ireland throughout June and July and are already available in Tesco, Boots and Ocado.

Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has confirmed to IFA that he has moved to provide permanent monitoring of carcase trim in the meat factories by Department of Agriculture technical officers. IFA National Livestock Chairman Angus Woods said this is a positive move but it must also extend to cover monitoring and closer controls on carcase classification, weights and the provision of an independent appeals system.

The Supervisory Board of Beiersdorf and the Company’s Chairman of the Executive Board, Stefan F. Heidenreich, have reached an amicable agreement that he will resign from the Executive Board when his current term of office ends on December 31, 2019. Stefan F. Heidenreich will vacate his post earlier, if and when the Supervisory Board appoints a successor.

UK grocery suppliers and retailers are facing a summer nightmare, as supplies of beer, carbonated soft drinks, chicken and meat are at risk right in the middle of the 2018 World Cup and this year’s crucial barbecue season. Food & drink manufacturers and retailers up and down the country are facing availability issues and a squeeze on supplies in the wake of shortages in food-grade carbon dioxide affecting all of Northern Europe.

Danone Early Life Nutrition joined their charity partner to celebrate the 15th birthday of the Big Toddle for Barnardos. The partnership has yielded €3.8 million to date in support of Barnardos work with children in their early years’ service, which provides programmes for children who need additional supports to prepare them for the transition to primary school, including literacy and social skills development.

In the UK, Marks and Spencer will partner with Microsoft to launch a strategic partnership which will use artificial intelligence to ‘transform’ retail. Microsoft AI engineers will work with the M&S tech team to research and test the opportunities for AI to improve customer experience.
