Dunnes Stores Simply Better Irish Angus Steaks took home three major awards at the World Steak Challenge which took place in London Last week. The Simply Better 28 Day Matured Irish Angus Rib Eye Steak picked up the Gold and Silver awards, with the Simply Better 14 Day Matured Irish Angus Fillet Steak honoured with a Bronze award. This is the fourth consecutive year for Simply Better Steaks to be recognised at the World Steak Challenge.

Britain's Whitbread Plc, the owner of Costa Coffee, is planning to simplify its management teams in restaurant chains, resulting in at least 250 of managers leaving the company.

Union Hall has signed an agreement with worth €920,000 with SuperValu to supply a range of oak-smoked fish products. The West Cork based family run business is a participant of the Food Academy programme, which is now entering its fifth year.

Irish based international metal and glass containers company Ardagh Group has announced that it will repay $440 million (€375 million) of borrowings ahead of schedule. As a result the group said that it will have no debt maturing before September 2022.

The green light has been given on a new whiskey distillery and visitor facility opening in Newry, Co. Down. The distillery will be run by Matt D’Arcy & Company, who will invest €7.3 million into the project.

Popular Italian coffee chain Lavazza has announced it will completely acquire Australia’s Blue Pod Coffee. The Italian coffee maker has seen the scale of its business rise in recent months after completing a number of acquisitions.
