Checkout has today announced the winners of our inaugural National Grocery Retail Awards.
The winners were revealed today in an online presentation ceremony at 12 noon.
The new awards scheme is an amalgam of Ireland’s premier awards for fresh food retailing, the Checkout Best in Fresh awards, and the leading awards for suppliers to the industry, the Checkout National Retail Supplier Awards.
In addition, the National Grocery Retail Awards also includes a number of new and exciting categories, including the award for Ireland’s Retailer of the Year, Best Off-Licence, Best Cash & Carry, Best Sustainability Initiative, Best Private Label Range, and Best Community Initiative.
“The individual stores, retailers and suppliers that have excelled in these awards are those that have demonstrated innovation and responsiveness to consumer trends,” says Maev Martin, editor, Checkout magazine.
“These are the hallmarks of a leading grocery supply and retail operation. Our winners have set new standards because they bring their passions and dreams of what a store can be to life to create the perfect shopping experience."

They highlight best in class retailing and honour the companies and suppliers that help Ireland’s pioneering stores and retail chains to achieve levels of service and product excellence that set them apart from their competitors," she says.
By amalgamating these awards, and adding some new award categories, Checkout has created the most prestigious and inclusive awards for the grocery retail sector in Ireland. As such, the National Grocery Retail Awards is set to become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Irish grocery retail calendar,” Martin adds.
