Healthy Food Chain Freshii Set For €4M Expansion Over Four Months

Freshii, the healthy casual food chain, is set to more than double in size over the next four years as its owners will invest €4 million towards expansion, according to the Irish Independent.

Currently, there are 13 outlets in Ireland, with a further 17 to come, mainly in Dublin.

Careful Expansion

The food chain is owned in Ireland by Fresh Life Foods (FLF), and Dave O’Donoghue, chief executive of FLF, said that the cost of the new stores will range from €180,000 to €250,000 per outlet.

"When we made the plan we said we didn't want this everywhere, we could have this in a lot more outlets than we already have," O’Donoghue said.

"We wanted to keep Freshii special as it's a destination, and we didn't want to have mini-Freshiis in a load of convenience stores because I went down that route with Cuisine de France and what happens over a decade is you become ubiquitous."

The group has also opened concession stores in Lusk and Portlaoise, through an agreement with forecourt retailer Applegreen.

Freshii is a Toronto-listed business founded in 2005 by current chief executive Matthew Corrin.
